March is one of our favorite months, its when we get to start thinking about springtime, when the days get a little longer, of course it’s March Madness and… it’s Women’s Month! To be fair, every month is Women’s Month at The Athletic with our Founder CEO Julie Krasniak leading the charge (and the four other women that work here backing her up!), but to further celebrate the occasion, we’ll be sharing a series of profiles on The Journal and our social channels. Make sure to stay tuned on Instagram and Facebook.
We’re kicking it off with an interview with Jessi Duley, founder of the Lab x Burn. The name does not disappoint. Our quads and our spirits were set on fire. Make sure you're signed up for our newsletter as this interview and little photo story will land on the site this Sunday, March 4th.
Additionally, we’re excitedly planning ways to celebrate the many women who make up such a big part of the Athletic Community. Here’s a preview of what you can look forward to this month. More details coming daily!
International Women’s Day Sunrise Ride
We’ll be celebrating women in good company all around the world. Let’s take advantage and start the day early with some Council Crest loops!
We will meet at the shop at 6:30 am and roll out by 7:00 am. We’ll be back at the shop by 8:30 for coffee and donuts and we do have a shower available for those who need to refresh before they head on to the rest of their day. All are welcome (men, women, riders of all levels) and we can’t wait!
March 28th: Details to follow.
Building Camaraderie and Community Among Women in Sports
A Panel Discussion at The Athletic Community.
We’re beyond stoked for the folks that are going to be on this panel! We’ll do the reveal later in the month but we wanted to send out a save the date so you have it on your radar. There are so many ways that women in and around Portland are building community among women in sports and fitness on both a local and global scale. We’re going to have some heavy-hitters in the house. More info to come!
