We have been riding with Patrick from Team Wooly Mammoth for quite some time now. Ever since his move from Austin to Portland we have felt that bond that comes with long rides, humor and a quest for the best. He is also a fierce player on the basketball court. More on that later, but the point is. We know this guy!
We were there last month when he tied the knot back in Austin and not only was this a chance to celebrate nuptials, but it was a chance for Mr. Ultra Tradition himself to show us some of the best roads and rides that Austin-land has to offer. We may have even been party to a secret meeting between TWM and the other brightly colored team in the Austin area - Team Yacht Club. They are both a fan of expensive oils. That much is certain.
Plus, while we were there we had the opportunity to meet and ride with some of Austin's best. Gideon and Josh from Beat the Clock Cycling as well as Matt and Dan from Team Yacht Club were fantastic and gracious hosts. Not only did they smash us by surprising us with more hills than we were expecting, but they hung around to offer up some great food and drink spots as well. #SMOOTHIETIME It was more than we could have hoped for, especially with Mr. Prolly unavailable to show us around. So, thanks for that.
In any case, when we realized recently that we would be allowed to part with a select few of the most recent iteration of the Team Wooly Mammoth #COOLTEAM wool socks, we got very, very excited. We think that it might have something to do with Patrick's recent revelation that cyclocross, whether riding or racing is very - very fun.
