It is here, it is out, it exists in the...er...Wild! Last Friday we went to the Stay Wild Magazine release party at one of our favorite coffee shops in the whole world - See See Motor Coffee Co. If you have yet to check out that spot, now would be the time to do it, because they have printed issues of the FREE adventure magazine Stay Wild.
What is featured in Stay Wild? Is a question that you might be asking yourself. Well, we have a few select photos here for your viewing pleasure, but the best way to do it is to get a copy. Now, I know that might seem like a difficult thing to do, especially if you are not in the Portland Metro Area (doesn't exist). So, here's how you do that, remember, this is a FREE magazine. Go to the Stay Wild site and request a copy, or find your local awesome bike shop and tell them to get in touch so that they can stock it when it comes out each quarter. Aaand we're done here.
But, before we go, there are a couple other cool things about this magazine.
This issue features the first ever The Athletic Community advertisement. Boom! Exciting I know. But, we believe in FREE adventure and adventure magazines as well. It is a photo that Julie took while trail running with our friend Abby Watson on her long Wildwood excursion featuring the Wildwood socks. Plus, it happens to be situated next to some pretty fantastic illustration work by Liliya Dru.
Then there is the story about the #Festive500 and all the tricks that go into making that a successful winter riding campaign (spoiler alert: it's just riding with other people). The article includes a photo of our friend Patrick taking a picture of Julie as they ride up through the fog on Skyline late last December. Here's the full story » Stay Wild Festive 500.
Then there is an article/interview/email session with the guys from L A N D in Austin, Texas. You may have seen John Prolly drool over them. This happens at times. Or their work with *Yonder Journal, or Patagonia, or maybe Deus or even possibly or maybe the Radavist? These are all good things that are happening right now! (Especially that YJ stuff, there's a pretty awesome Chris McNally illustration involved with that one - and some great Kyle Von Hoetzendorff words).
But, that is not really what concerns me at this moment. What is interesting is how we came about to be involved with this wonderful printed creation. It went like this:
Our friend Tim lost his wallet on the way to work. Scrappers - the fantastic individual who took it upon himself to create this magazine - found said wallet and returned it to Tim. But, not before he wove his fantastical tale of adventure and good times in the outdoors, into our susceptible ear holes. Then we all went out for drinks and talked about it some more. And drank some drinks. And before we knew it, we were in bed with the Stay Wild and it was not one of those "chew your arm off to get out" scenarios.
Shortly thereafter a Stay Wild ad was born and with it....a sock!
The first round of the sock was uses for the Stay Wild Kickstarter. Really get this puppy off the ground, if you know what I mean? However, we shall have more and you will be able to pick up these socks right here. Trust me when I say that they'll make your feet as happy as that little face on them.
