New Gear Day is the best day. It's rivals - New Bike Day & New Shoe day are followed closely by New Denim Day. But, in all honesty, new denim day makes me more anxious than any of its brothers there. Speaking of brothers, how about this Bare Knuckle Brigade. They're kind of like brothers, no?
The Bare Knuckle Brigade - or BKB - if you follow along closely - have been at this for a while. And by this I mean making things. Maybe first it started out as homemade t-shirts and stickers? Then it moved into posters for alley cats and single speed mountain bike races and then from there it moved deeper into the bike industry and the rest, as they say, is history. Well, I made most of that up with the loosest of possible threads to the truth, but the truth is, Jesse LaLonde is the creative genius behind BKB and if you're following along at home, it should be no surprise that we are big fans of this creative collective of one.
In fact, if you poke around a bit on this site you might find a couple things (Le Tigre Socks! Stickers!) that he has done. You could even go back further into our history and find a few more if you were so inclined. Let's just say that we have been a fan for a while now.
And that is only to speak about his design chops. Let's talk about his riding for a moment. Or his running. There's a trip back in time. He was a scourge of the Wisco Track and Field Scene and then later, the WORS Single speed circuit. Hell, he still is! Always the one popping up with cool new bikes and little side projects for us to gather around our little internet phones and stare longingly into the instagrams.

Which is why we couldn't be more excited about their line of clothing. "A sweatshirt like our dad's would have worn" was a phrase that was mentioned. And when I put this sweatshirt on I agreed with him fully. My dad always wore CK1 cologne. And soft sweatshirts. Or at least as far as I can remember. He also had a Powdermilk Biscuits t-shirt, I remember that correctly. He was a hanging out in the back yard throwing a baseball around kind of guy - still is really. Maybe I need to get him one of these sweatshirts?
So, this excites me. Take a look through the BKB Collection over on TwinSix and amaze and delight yourself with the sheer volume of production that this man can produce. He is also one of the designers behind TwinSix, so there is a good chance that some of the other designs have gotten his touch as well.
We will keep an eye on things over there as they continue to expand, but you follow along too, because these cats are the ones to watch. The ones with the sweet carbon fat bikes and the dirt trails that seem to go on for days....
