Another weird weekend in sporting goodness? Well, not actually, but it as it turns out, one with a lot of hope. Hope for the French and their never ending quest for the top of the podium. Hope for our hometown hero's the Portland Trailblazers and of course hope for the future of media, however dire that future may be (it's not really).
The Bosnian Beast
Jusef Nurkić changed his twitter handle to @bosnianbeast27 shortly after arriving in Portland a couple weeks back. This gives us hope. Could he be the answer that we need to get us over this 9th place hump and into the playoffs? He does take a notch out of the belt of Denver, which couldn't hurt.
The thing that instills this hope in us, however, is not his style of play — although, that has been pretty undeniably awesome — it's his attitude. He was casual and jocular in this interview after his first home game in Portland (which he was a pretty dominant part of the game) which was great and speaks to his ability to get along with his teammates, which, could be the key to all of this anyway.
Lillard has his arm around him! They are effectively "arm in arm" Would you look at that?
Sneak of the Week - Jordan 1's
We're doing this again, yes, yes we are because we love footwear of all kinds. The kinds that cover your foot directly happen to be our speciality, but that doesn't mean we don't want to slip them into something cool after that. The Jordan 1 has been high on our list for, well, forever. Or at the very least since we were 8th graders and trying desperately to get ourselves into a used pair of Jordan 3's.
So, late last week we had the Jordan 1's and then early this week (which I'm pretty sure is gone already) we've got another super special piece of footwear up for review. Stay tuned for that.
The "Race to the Sun" kicked off this past weekend. Much to the hilarity of everyone that's ever done it, watched it, or been anywhere in March with a winter. If you want to get technical the race does end at Daylight Savings, so, there's that. Also, winner winner poulet dinner? Do we say that for French winners like Arnaud Démare?
Here's the quote/tweet from Ted King that made us laugh:
My condolences to those doing Paris-Nice. “Race to the sun” is a farce. The sun arrives to France sometime around June, not mid-March.
King Kong Classic - Round 5
There is only one week left to get out here and ride the King Kong Classic. But, is there really? We're hoping that this ride will just become our Sunday thing to do. But, hoping doesn't usually get you too far, sometimes you have to just put in the work. Or say it out loud enough times that people start showing up.
This past weekend was no exception to the leg breaking factors that tend to rear their ugly heads on this ride. Jacob Rathy was there and he whispered sweetly into Team Wooly Mammoth's COACH's ear while making that spinning echelon motion with his hand - "let's ride fast." We did our best for as long as we could - it only turned out to be necessary for about 37 seconds until we had a little crash within the group - which miraculously turned out fine - but we never saw the group again after that. Le Sigh.
Anyway, there is still one of these rides - ON THE BOOKS - but mark our words, it will still happen. Somehow, some way. The above photo is of our spirit guide for the remainder of the ride - John Walrod. Learn that name. Know it.
Super Swap March 24th - 2017
This is your first official announcement. Yes, you heard it here first folks. The Super Swap will happen at the end of March and it's going to be bigger and better than ever. We've got some rad brands lined up and a maybe a few things ourselves that we need to move move move. If you're looking to have a table/booth of your own, you can also do that here in an easier format:
Individual 6x6 Table - $50
Brand/Team 10x10 - $100
Let's just say this. It's going to be good! More on that later.
