It has been exciting to see this space come to life. Our ESA Gallery is now open for your viewing pleasure. Earlier this month we opened the doors to our first show — MOTO with photographer Whit Bazemore. It was a fantastic affair with boozy soda drinks from our friend Ross at Atlas Sodaworks and an amazing Ducati Panigale R on loan from Motocorsa right down the street in NW Portland. But, those weren't the only folks to help out. It takes a freaking village to pull one of these shows off and everyone chipped in here to make it happen. So, take a gander through the space itself and if you're so inclined, swing on through for your own personal viewing.
Rebecca and Zach hung the photos (the beauty of magnets!), the folks from Motocorsa dropped off the bike. Leathers and helmet, shoes and gloves were hung in place by Xander and Mary while David and I tested the boozy drinks to make sure they were boozy enough. This is all just to say that we've got a good crew and we've got a new Team page on our site to show off all our shining faces.
Whit Bazemore was on hand to talk about his photographs as well. He told us about the challenges of shooting in the rain last year at the Circuit of the Americas. He talked about what it was like to be a racer and then move to behind the lens as the years went on. Although, with that being said he was currently borrowing leathers from Adam Craig and prepping his own bike for the season. So, there's a good chance that all this shooting and talking and thinking about MotoGP racing has gone a long ways towards getting everyone excited about the coming race season which kicks of in Qatar on March 20th.
Whit also contributed to the show catalog that we produced. MOTO book 1 is now for sale up on our site and contains all the photos that are shown on the gallery walls plus a few extras. Then, Whit went through, photo by photo, and broke down his shots and the riders and all kinds of fun stuff. We also have all of his shots available as prints that can be ordered through the site. Each print will be produced on high quality paper in an edition of five and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
MOTO will hang for two more weeks until March 10th when we take it down to prepare for our next show — NO TIMEOUTS — A Basketball Group Show. Keep an eye out here for all things ESA Gallery concerned.
